Index of Production time series dataset for September 2012

Time series dataset for the Index of Services August 2012 release. Index of Services shows the monthly movements in gross value added for the service industries, which overall account for around 77 per cent of UK Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Time Series Data

This dataset contains estimates for the claimant count (which measures the number of people claiming Jobseekers Allowance) and vacancies.

This dataset contains the main labour market statistics data series. All of the series in this dataset are available in spreadsheet format from the labour market data tables. In this dataset Labour Force Survey (LFS) estimates are shown for the mid-month of the three-month average time periods. For example, estimates for January-March 2011 are shown as "February 2011", estimates for February-April 2011 are shown as "March 2011", etc.

Cost indices (purchase of materials and fuels, average weekly earnings, general expenses and combined costs) relating to four aerospace and electronics industries. The data are based on the Standard Industrial Classification SIC (2007) and are calculated on a base year of 2005=100. The indices are widely used by government and business as an authoritative source of information on inflation, cost adjusting and price variation in trading contracts. Indices for the latest two months are always provisional and flagged with a "p" marker due to the level of imputation present for items where the latest prices are not available. This level of imputation reduces significantly for earlier months, allowing index data to be published as firm values. Occasionally, new information produces a change in the value of an index already published as firm. Where change is significant, index values are recalculated and annotated with an "r" marker.

A comprehensive selection of data on input and output index indices. Contains producer price indices of materials and fuels purchased and output of manufacturing industry by broad sector. Indices for the latest two months are provisional due to the level of imputation present for items where the latest prices are not available. The latest five months are subject to revisions in light of (a) late and revised contributor data and (b) revisions to seasonal adjustment factors which are re-estimated every month.

Time series data for the International Passenger Survey

Time series dataset: UK trade is a key economic indicator due to the importance of international trade to the UK economy. It is also a very timely statistic, providing an early indicator of what is happening more generally in the economy. In addition, it is a major component of two other key economic statistics – UK Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the UK Balance of Payments. This means that there is a threefold potential for UK Trade statistics to inform the Government’s view of the UK economy, as well as the views of others, such as economists, City analysts, academics, the media, and international organisations.
