The Government Statistical Service Methodology Advisory Committee (GSS MAC) has two main aims:
-
to provide a forum to allow government statisticians to obtain advice on methodological issues from a group of interested and experienced professional statisticians from outside government
-
to provide an opportunity to build and strengthen links between the Government Statistical Service (GSS) and the rest of the statistical profession
GSS MAC has been in existence since July 2008, superceding the former National Statistics Methodology Advisory Committee (NSMAC), and broadening its remit to explicitly include Official as well as National Statistics.
The committee meets twice yearly to discuss statistical methodological issues relevant to the production and presentation of Official and National Statistics.
