Dataset Balance of payments time series

We have temporarily paused full processing of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Survey data, so recent FDI-related estimates are subject to more uncertainty than usual. The estimates for Quarters 3 (Jul to Sept) and 4 (Oct to Dec) 2023 contain ONS FDI Survey data carried forward from Quarter 2 (Apr to June) 2023, whereas Quarter 1 2024 estimates are based on survey data, but with simpler processing than normal. Therefore, users should be cautious when interpreting recent FDI data in the balance of payments (BoP) statistics.

About this Dataset

Quarterly summary of balance of payments accounts including the current account, capital transfers, transactions and levels of UK external assets and liabilities.
