Important notes and usage information

This release contains two Detailed Characteristics tables providing data on communal establishments and one Local Characteristics table providing sex by age with ages below 25 broken down to single year of age.

The tables in this release are:

  • DC4110EW - Communal establishment management and type by position in communal establishment by age

  • DC4801EWla - Communal establishment management and type by position in communal establishment by resident one year ago

  • LC1117EW - Sex by single year of age 0-24, quinary ages 25-89, 90+

Tables DC4801EWla and LC1117EW are available from the NOMIS website.

Due to the level of detail included in Local Characteristics tables, and the lower level of geography, in order to prevent disclosure of individuals’ information some classifications have been collapsed. Table LC1117EW has been produced at Output Area level, whilst DC4801EWla has been produced for Merged Local Authority geography.

Table DC4110EW (902 Kb Excel sheet) is available as a reference table in this release.

Table DC4110EW has been produced at 2011 Census Merged Ward level, however, in order to prevent disclosure of individuals’ information, a threshold is in place and this table has only been produced for Merged Wards where there are 100 or more usual residents living in communal establishments.

More information about Output Areas and other geographic areas is available from ONS Geography.

Tables from previous releases are also available from the NOMIS website.

Further information about the census estimates, including details about the methodology used and information about how other population sub-groups are counted and defined, is available in the 2011 Census user guide.
