This product is part of the set of Small Area Population Estimates (SAPE). It includes mid-year population estimates for 2011 Electoral Wards in England and Wales by age and sex. Electoral Wards are updated annually, the 2011 Electoral Wards are the boundaries as of 31st December 2011. Ward population estimates are consistent with Super Output Area (SOA), local authority, regional and national population estimates.

These mid-2011 population estimates for 2011 Census output areas (OAs) are the building blocks used to create the small area population estimates for wards and parliamentary constituencies. They are provided as supporting information to the official series of small area population estimates and can be used to create population estimates for higher levels of geography using published OA best-fit look up files. They are fully consistent with the mid-2011 Super Output Area (SOA), local authority and national level estimates.

This product shows estimates of long-term international migration for the UK from the year ending Dec 02 to the year ending Sep 12. Data for 2012 is provisional. The tables and charts show the time series for immigration, emigration and net migration (the difference between immigration and emigration). Table 1 and Table 2 contain estimates of Long-Term International Migration (LTIM) by citizenship and by main reason for migration. LTIM is the most comprehensive measure of long-term international migration and is primarily based on the International Passenger Survey (IPS), with some adjustments. As detailed analyses on the characteristics of migrants are not possible from LTIM, Table 3 contains a cross tabulation of citizenship by main reason for migration based on IPS data only

Table STIM.02 is based on information collected by the International Passenger Survey (IPS) at the end of migrants' visits and contains information on the average stock of short-term migrants present in or absent from England and Wales and migrants' average length of stay in or away from England and Wales. Estimates are provided for migrations of one to twelve months, three to twelve months and migrations meeting the United Nations definition of short-term migration. This table shows estimates broken down by migrants' main reason for migration. Broad reason groupings are published. Estimates are available for mid years (July to June) 2004 to 2011.

STIM tables contain detailed information on the characteristics of short-term international migrants. Table STIM.03 is based on information collected by the International Passenger Survey (IPS) at the end of migrants' visits and contains information on migrant flows to and from England and Wales. Estimates are provided for migrations of one to twelve months, three to twelve months and migrations meeting the United Nations definition of short-term migration. This table shows estimates broken down by migrants' age and sex. Broad age groupings are published. Estimates are available for mid years (July to June) 2004 to 2011.

STIM tables contain detailed information on the characteristics of short-term international migrants. Table STIM.05 is based on information collected by the International Passenger Survey (IPS) at the end of migrants' visits and contains information on the top countries of usual residence of migrants to England and Wales and the top countries visited by migrants from England and Wales. Countries are ranked by flow estimates and by average stock estimates. The top ten countries in each category are provided for migrations of one to twelve months and three to twelve months. The top five countries in each category are provided for migrations meeting the United Nations definition of short-term migration. Estimates are available for mid years (July to June) 2004 to 2011.

They are built from groups of 2001 Census Output Areas and are of consisitent size and fixed boundaries.
