Thank you for your enquiry.
We are responsible for the production of mortality statistics for England and Wales.
National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for publishing the number of deaths registered in Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.
Unfortunately, we do not hold the data you have requested. Our death data is collected from the death certificate. The place of occurrence is listed as "hospital". The method of admission or the type of hospital to which the patient was admitted is not registered on the death certificate. NHS Digital may be better placed to assist with your request. They can be contacted at enquiries@nhsdigital.nhs.uk.
However, please see the following publications, which present data by place of death. These can be downloaded from our website via the links below:
Deaths Registered in England and Wales: please see Table 10, which shows deaths by cause and place of occurrence. This data is available from 2006 to 2019.
You can also find a variety of ad hoc tables that include place of death, specific to location or underlying cause, in the User Requested data section of ONS website, including deaths by CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) and NHS Trust.
