FOI ref: FOI-2024-2128
You asked
What are the 90th, 95th and 99th percentiles of life expectancy in care homes for males aged 80-84 and 85-89. Do you have this information and if so could you provide it to me?7
We said
We have provided Life expectancy in care homes, England and Wales: 2021 to 2022 which includes a central estimate for those aged 80-84 and 85-89 together with a 95% confidence interval which provides a measure of uncertainty around the central estimate to take account of random variation. This is the standard information that ONS provide in its life expectancy publications that use an abridged life table.
The information you have requested is not held. Actioning this would require us to create new information through further analysis of linked census and vital events datasets which were created for specific project specifications. As a public authority, ONS is not required to create information in response to FOIA requests. We would also advise some caution when applying our population-level statistics to individual circumstances.
