Number of deaths from Niemann-Pick Disease

Please provide aggregate data on the number of deaths from Niemann-Pick Disease (see ICD10 codes below) by age at death group and year of death group and for disease type (grouped by (1) type A, (2) type B and (3) C&D combined (4) other and unspecified combined.

E75.24 Niemann-Pick disease

• E75.240 ...... type A (Age band - <1 year, 1-3 yrs, 3-5 yrs)
• E75.241 ...... type B (Age band - <5 yrs, 5-24 yrs, 24-50 yrs >50 years)
• E75.242 ...... type C (Age band - <5 yrs, 5-24 yrs, 24-50 yrs >50 years)
• E75.243 ...... type D (Age band - <5 yrs, 5-24 yrs, 24-50 yrs >50 years)
• E75.248 Other Niemann-Pick disease (Age band - <5 yrs, 5-24 yrs, 24-50 yrs >50 years)
• E75.249 ...... unspecified (Age band - <5 yrs, 5-24 yrs, 24-50 yrs >50 years)

If possible, please provide this by 5 year bands for year of death going back to 1990, if it is only possible to provide this by 10 year bands that would suffice.

Also, is it possible to provide this data for England, Wales, NI and Scotland combined?

We are responsible for the production of mortality statistics for England and Wales. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for publishing the number of deaths registered in Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.

Unfortunately, we would not be able to fulfil this request in its entirety, as we would need use a high-level of statistical skill and judgement in order to create a bespoke analysis for you. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.
