Average house price in Dumfries and Galloway was £168,000 in September 2024
The provisional average house price in Dumfries and Galloway in September 2024 was £168,000. This was in line with the average of £167,000 in September 2023 (revised), a 0.5% change.
Across Scotland, the average house price in September 2024 was £198,000, which was more than a year earlier (£187,000).
Across Great Britain, a home sold for an average of £294,000 in September 2024, which was up from the September 2023 average of £286,000.
In the year to September 2024, the average price for semi-detached properties in Dumfries and Galloway rose by 1.4%, while the average price for flats stayed around the same over the year.
For each property type, average prices as of September 2024 in Dumfries and Galloway were:
- Detached properties: £244,000
- Semi-detached properties: £162,000
- Terraced properties: £129,000
- Flats and maisonettes: £93,000

The provisional average price paid by first-time buyers was £144,000 in September 2024. This was in line with the revised September 2023 average of £143,000.
In comparison, home-movers in Dumfries and Galloway paid an average of £187,000 in September 2024. This was in line with £186,000 a year earlier.
In September 2024, the average price was £238,000 in Scotland and £337,000 in Great Britain.

Average house price for mortgage buyers stayed level in Dumfries and Galloway
The average price of a home bought with a mortgage in Dumfries and Galloway was £166,000 in September 2024 (provisional). This was in line with an average of £164,000 in September 2023 (revised).
Across Scotland, the average price of a home bought with a mortgage was £207,000, up from £194,000 a year earlier.
Across Great Britain, the average price for buying with a mortage in September 2024 was £304,000, which was up from an average of £295,000 in September 2023.
