Thank you for your enquiry on the number of recorded corrosive fluid offences or acid attacks during 2018.

Unfortunately, we do not hold any information on the number of crimes involving acid or corrosive fluids. Acid and other corrosive attacks resulting in injury are included in our published statistics within assault with injury offences and assault with intent to cause serious harm offences. Unfortunately, it is not possible to disaggregate acid related assaults from other offences in those categories.

The Home Office is responsible for the collation of recorded crime data supplied from the 43 police forces in England and Wales, but they do not specifically collect data from police forces on acid and other corrosive attacks as part of their regular data collection.

We do not hold or publish data for Scotland or Northern Ireland. Crime statistics for Scotland and Northern Ireland can be found on the Scottish Government and the Northern Ireland Statistics Research Agency websites: http://www.gov.scot/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Crime-Justice and https://www.nisra.gov.uk/statistics/crime-and-justice.
