In the Crime Survey there is often a figure published of the proportion of crimes which were alcohol-related (where the victim believed the perpetrator/s to be under the influence of alcohol) and a separate one of the proportion of crimes committed in or around various locations (e.g. licensed premises).

The 2015 edition does not appear to contain these figures but I wonder if they were collected and calculated as part of the process and if so whether you are able to share them?

You also once published ad hoc figures (following my request) on the percentage of all violent incidents that occurred in licensed premises by time of day and if it is possible to produce the equivalent figures for 2013/2014 and 2014/15 that would be greatly appreciated too.

I think the Crime Survey figures you are referring to relates to the Nature of Crime tables on ‘Violence’ that are published every year alongside our ‘Focus On Violent Crime and Sexual Offences’ publication. These tables should include a ten year time series table reporting the proportion of violent incidents where the offender was perceived to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and there is also a set of tables reporting where violent incidents occurred. The latest Nature of Crime tables for violence, providing information for the year ending March 2015, are due to be published on 11th February, alongside the ‘Focus On Violent Crime and Sexual Offences, year ending March 2015’ publication.

However, I am able to provide you now with a table for the year ending March 2014 and year ending March 2015 showing the proportion of violent incidents occurring at different times of day that happened at a pub or a club. The following example shows how the table should be interpreted: in the year ending March 2015, of all violent incidents occurring in the evening, 25% happened at a pub or club, or similarly, of all violent incidents, 19% happened at a pub or a club.
