I would like to request the following information:
1) The number of American citizens who are living in the UK as of 1 January 2017, and the US state that each individual came from.
2) Their documentation for living in the UK (if they're on a Tier 1 to 5 Visa, or have applied for citizenship)
We said
Thanks for your enquiry about American citizens living in the UK. The latest figures we have available are from July 2016 to June 2017. Table 2.3 of the file you can download from the link shows that for that year we estimate that the number of USA citizens living in the UK was 139,000 with a confidence interval of 18,000. This means that we are 95% confident that the true figure is in the range 121,000 to 157,000. We do not have any data about the US state from which they came.
We do not hold any information about the documentation they hold for living in the UK but this may be available from the Home Office public.enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
