You asked

I am interested in looking at a breakdown of inflation data (CPI or otherwise) by regions of the UK.

Would it be possible to receive anonymised CPI survey results tagged by the region of the country it was collected in for the last 5-10 years (or however long you can provide). This would help me build up a picture of inflation and price levels by different regions of the UK.

Thank you for your enquiry. We publish price quotes on a quarterly basis, and these are available on our website here

https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/inflationandpriceindices/datasets/consumerpriceindicescpiandretailpricesindexrpiitemindicesandpricequotes

Towards the bottom of the page, there is a glossary that explains the terminology used in these datasets. In the 'price quotes' files, there is a column indicating the region in which the price was collected. The regional coding used is explained in the aforementioned glossary.

You may also be interested in the regional analysis presented at the link below. This is produced as a by-product of work to meet European requirements and is produced every 7 years. This means that the latest available results are for 2010, but we expect to have an update in mid-2017.
