You asked
I am writing to make a Freedom of Information request about any information that is available regarding convictions or charges of; assault, common assault, ABH or GBH using acid or Noxious Chemicals since 2002. If possible I would like specifically to find out the number of convictions, and also any details that may be available regarding the persons convicted. Age, ethnicity, gender or religion would be the specific criteria.
If possible I would also like to know about the frequency of repeat convictions or charges of the same nature.

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the number of convictions of assault with the use of acid or other noxious chemicals.
Crime statistics published by us generally relate to victims rather than offenders and we do not hold information on convictions.
There are also some data available on the number of convictions, which are published by the Ministry of Justice. The latest statistics on convictions were published in May 2017 and can be found at the link below.
https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/criminal-justice-system-statistics-quarterly-december-2016
However, the published data does not contain the level of breakdown that you require, and only includes number of convictions for ‘violence against the person’ offences, which is what ‘assault’ would fall under.
It may be possible to find out more information about the convictions data by contacting the Ministry of Justice directly. They can be reached at statistics.enquiries@justice.gsi.gov.uk.
If you would like any further information, please contact CrimeStatistics@ons.gov.uk and we will endeavour to help.
