You asked

I would like a report about domestic abuse in England per day, instead of per quarter. Best would be Q2 and Q3 2024 or Q4 2022.

We said

Thank you for your request regarding domestic abuse statistics in England per day. I'm afraid we do not hold the information you have requested.

The statistics we publish on domestic abuse in England and Wales are derived from two primary sources: the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and offences recorded by the police identified as domestic abuse-related.

Domestic abuse is often a hidden crime that is not reported to the police. Therefore, data held by the police can only provide a partial picture of the actual level of domestic abuse experienced. The number of offences recorded by the police identified as domestic abuse-related by quarter can be found in Worksheet E2 of the Crime in England and Wales: Appendix tables. We do not hold daily statistics.

Police recorded crime data are supplied to us by the Home Office. You could contact them directly at CrimeandPoliceStats@homeoffice.gov.uk and they may be able to help you further.

We produce yearly domestic abuse estimates using the self-completion module of the CSEW. Due to the small sample size, it is not possible to produce reliable estimates for shorter time periods.

Domestic abuse statistics derived from the CSEW can be found in the annual publication Domestic abuse in England and Wales. Our latest published release is for the year ending November 2023.

If you have any further questions, please email us at crimestatistics@ons.gov.uk  and we will endeavour to help.
