The detailed tables published by ONS in September 2015 on drug-related poisoning deaths did not include as much detail as in previous years in terms of specific substances mentioned in the cause of death field.
Is it possible, for 2014 registrations, to obtain the following, as given in previous FOI answers?
Number of any mention, sole mention, mention with alcohol (i.e. the same basis as Tables 6a-c) regarding these drugs:
GHB/GBL (I note that Note 9 on page 35 explains that GBL is included with the GHB figures)
Ketamine
Piperazines
Cathinones
Mephedrone
Khat

Such enquiries should be made to: mortality@ons.gov.uk. We recommend that you contact the Mortality Analysis team directly in order to discuss your data requirements in more detail.
As this information is already available to you via this route ONS considers that S21(1) applies to this request and the information does not have to be supplied under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act. S21(1) is an absolute exemption and no consideration of the public interest test needs to be applied.
