We said

Thank you for your request.

In relation to question 1 on employment statistics, we measure the number of people in employment in local areas from the Annual Populations Survey, which is based on interviews with people resident in households in the UK.

We do not produce any statistics based on the age bands you have requested, however we do produce the number of people in employment in each region, including London, for age bands 20 to 24 and 25 to 29 in our annual population survey – regional – labour market status by age dataset on Nomis. This dataset also includes a breakdown between full-time and part-time employment.

Although the survey does collect information on the occupation of individuals, we do not produce any statistics based on occupation by age for London. We also do not produce any of our employment breakdowns based on Transport for London travel zones.

It would be possible to request a tailored analysis from the survey covering the elements you have specified by contacting our social surveys team. There may be a charge for this service depending on the amount of time taken to develop the analysis and undertake quality and disclosure control processes.

In relation to question 2 on income statistics, requested breakdowns of household disposable income and expenditure may be possible using data collected from the Household Finances Survey, subject to sample size, with most recent data being available for financial year ending 2023. However, this will require bespoke analysis requiring specialist statistical skill, and is likely to be chargeable in line with our charging policy. Please note that it will not be possible to provide distribution of disposable income or household expenditure across transport zones, as we do not hold this data. For any queries regarding bespoke income and expenditure analysis and an estimate of the cost to produce and please contact hie@ons.gov.uk. We would also be happy to discuss methodological challenges in combining both income and expenditure if required.

In relation to question 3, while we collect time-use data, we do not collect it at the required level of granularity to capture commute duration by transport zone.

In relation to question 4 unfortunately, ONS does not hold this information.
