You asked
Please can you confirm whether a community close to Jaywick, in Clacton-on-Sea, is the most deprived area in the UK?
If this is not the case, please can you confirm which town or area has been most recently found to be the most deprived?
Please summarise what constitutes an area being declared most deprived and how that is determined?

Thank you for your recent request. We do not produce statistics on deprived areas.
The Department for Communities and Local Government publishes the Index of Multiple Deprivation for England and was last published in 2015 and is available from the following web page: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/english-indices-of-deprivation-2015. They can be contacted by email (indices.deprivation@communities.gsi.gov.uk) and they may be able to advise what constitutes an area being declared most deprived.
