Could I please have records of statistics of recorded deaths of obstructive sleep apnea by the cause of a cpap machines.

Figures for deaths due to sleep apnoea that were registered between 2013 and 2022 are available on our NOMIS webservice. Please see the following instructions for using this service:
- Select the geography (England and Wales, regional or by local authority).
- Select Age – All ages or 5-year age bands.
- Select Gender– Total or Male/Female
- Select rates – All deaths, rates or percentage of population for example.
- Select cause of death (ICD10 code search is available).
- ICD10 code for sleep apnoea = G473
- Select format (Excel or CSV for example)
Data for 2023 will be available in NOMIS in autumn 2024.
Our mortality statistics are driven by information collected on the death certificate. Information regarding circumstances surrounding the death such as Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines are not collected on the death certificate, so, unfortunately, we do not hold the requested information.
