Thank you for your email requesting information on the Police “approved screening matrix” used by Hampshire Constabulary.

Unfortunately, we do not hold a copy of this matrix or information on how it works. Police recorded crime statistics published in Crime in England and Wales, year ending March 2017 show that there were 150,560 crimes recorded by the police in Hampshire, excluding fraud in the year ending March 2017.

The Home Office publishes crime outcomes data which show how the police deal with all crimes, and those still under investigation. These data are based on a full outcomes framework which was introduced by the Home Office in April 2014. Crime outcomes by police force area are available in Crime Outcomes in England and Wales, year ending March 2017 second edition. Alongside this publication, police force area tables show that 9% of crimes recorded in Hampshire in the year ending March 2017 resulted in a charge, 41% had no suspect identified, and 22% had evidential difficulties where the suspect was identified but the victim did not support action.

You may wish to contact Hampshire Constabulary directly to obtain information on the “approved screening matrix”.
