You asked

Are there any data sets relating to the UK labour force's sleep statistics, specifically during the Covid-19 pandemic. The timeframe would ideally span 2019-2022, and it would be helpful if there was a sample with data on hours slept and/or sleep quality, and any information on the sample’s incomes, job types and ages.

We said

Thank you for your enquiry concerning data sets relating to the UK labour force's sleep statistics, specifically during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Some of your requested breakdowns for sleeping time in the years 2020 to 2022 are published online for different household income and age groups. This is part of the Time Use in the UK  March 2024 edition dataset. Within that release, you will need to refer to the following tables.

  • Table 7 Average daily time (minutes) spent doing specified activities, all adults: by age group

  • Table 9 Average daily time (minutes) spent doing specified activities, all adults: by monthly household income (after tax)

The remaining information would need to be created as a bespoke analysis, which is available subject to legal frameworks, disclosure controls, resources, and an agreement of costs in line with our charging policy. For any queries regarding bespoke time use analysis and an estimate of the cost to produce it please contact HHSA@ons.gov.uk.
