Please supply the suicide rates for the United Kingdom for March 1st 2020 March 1st 2021.
We said
Thank you for your enquiry for UK suicide rates.
We are responsible for the production of mortality data for England and Wales. This is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively. Therefore, we unfortunately do not hold suicide statistics for the UK.
However, we have recently published the annual dataset for Suicides in England and Wales. This dataset has various breakdowns for 2020 including rates, sex and age groups.
Our most up-to-date analysis for suicide data are our quarterly provisional figures, accessible via the following link: Deaths caused by suicide by quarter in England. This provides suicides that have been registered quarterly in England up to 2020, but also includes provisional data for quarter 1 and quarter 2 of 2021. You could view from quarter 2 of 2020 up to quarter 1 of 2021, this contains the rates for England you have requested.
If you would like to discuss your request further, please contact health.data@ONS.gov.uk.
