A number time series related to the total gross fixed capital formation industry split for purchased and own-account software and databases have been updated due to the application of improved methodology which was not available in time for previous publication of this dataset on 30th September 2019. A full list of the affected series is available on request.
Previously proportions of total software and databases for own account and purchased were calculated at the total industry level, and applied across all industries. Improvements have to been made so that separate proportions are now calculated for each industry.
This change only affects industry level data and as such there is no impact on total software and databases, total intellectual property products or total gross fixed capital formation. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

On 10 October 2019 we notified our users that an error had been discovered in the calculation of chained volume measure (CVM) estimates published as part of the business investment by industry and asset publication. During the quality assurance process we discovered some instances of current price (CP) seasonally adjusted data (SA) were affected. We have now resolved this issue and have published the corrected data. Top level estimates of business investment, GFCF and GDP remain unaffected.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
A list of affected CDID’s is available on request.
We identified following the provisional Business Investment release of 11th November 2019 that annual gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) data for 1948 to 1996 and quarterly headline GFCF data for 1955 to 1996 had been removed from the website in error. These data were consistent with our 30 September 2019 publication.
The affected CDIDs are NPQX, NPQS, NPQR, NPQT
We have now restored these data to our website as published on 30 September 2019. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We have identified errors in two lower level GFCF series General Government CP NSA (NNBF) and General Government CP SA (RPZG) which have led to revisions for periods for which we have not been open to revision since September 2019.
The largest impacts are in the following periods – NNBF quarterly data in 2006 Q4 has a £7m discrepancy and RPZG annual data in 2006 has an £8m discrepancy over the year. Other periods affected are showing differences of no greater than £1m.
These errors arose during the production process and so we have now corrected these series.
No other data are affected by this issue and there are no changes to top level GFCF as a result of these errors.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
