The Office for National Statistics (ONS) linked data portal is the access point for information on statistical geographies required to support the use of official statistics. It is designed to allow users to discover, view and use geospatial data.
This portal is designed to be complementary to the Open Geography portal. The difference between the two is the Open Geography portal allows public access to ONS Geography products, whereas the ONS linked data portal allows access directly to data within the geography products, in machine-readable form and using an Application Programming Interface. Publishing data in this way allows data from several official ONS published geographic products to be consolidated into a single resource, identified by the Government Statistical Service (GSS) code.
