The Office for National Statistics (ONS), devolved governments and relevant departments have been working together to create new UK-wide data in high-priority areas of shared interest across UK administrations.
This work is led by the ONS Technical Engagement Division, through regular engagement with the devolved governments, the Union and Devolution Directorate in the Cabinet Office (CO) and the Government Statistical Service (GSS) Heads of Profession and Directors of Analysis.
Some examples of new UK-wide data, previously not available, have been produced for:
- public transport availability
- house building (including for local authorities)
- productivity (gross value added per hour)
- housing purchase affordability
- smoking
- green jobs estimates
We have worked with the devolved governments and Cabinet Office to agree further work during 2024 to improve the comparability of UK-wide data and to create new data and analysis where possible.
