Summary of request

Deaths where sepsis was the cause of death and and also where sepsis was mentioned on the death certificate. Figures are based on deaths that were registered in England and Wales between 2001 and 2023.

Figures only include deaths that were registered by 31 Dec 2023, so may be an underestimate due to registration delays.
