Dataset Estimates of overseas residents’ visits and spending

Corrections

22 July 2024

In datasets Quarter 3 (July to Sept) 2023 and earlier, estimates of visits by overseas residents from Europe for July to September 2022 were over estimated by 1,000. This has been corrected in our “Overseas travel and tourism, quarterly” dataset and will be corrected in all datasets published on this web page from Quarter 1 (Jan to Mar) 2024 onwards.

We are carrying out detailed quality assurance of our travel and tourism data. Therefore, today’s spreadsheet has a reduced set of tables.

We plan to publish the rest of our Quarter 1 (Jan to Mar) 2024 estimates in our next release scheduled for October 2024. We will publish them sooner if possible.

18 October 2024

We published the Quarter 2 (Apr to June) 2024 edition of this dataset on 18 October 2024. Some of the tables in this dataset only have data for Quarter 1 (Jan to Mar) and Quarter 2 2024. The time series normally available in these tables has been removed. This is because of our ongoing quality assurance work. Once this is complete, we will provide an updated version of this dataset.

About this Dataset

Quarterly estimates of overseas residents’ visits and spending. Also includes data on nights, purpose, region of UK visited and mode of travel. Breakdowns by nationality and area of residence are covered. The Quarter 4 (Oct to Dec) versions of this dataset are on a different webpage under the name "Overseas travel and tourism, quarterly".
