The ‘Mid-2011 to mid-2022 detailed time series’ edition of Estimates of the population for England and Wales was not updated as scheduled on 15 July 2024. It has now been updated with revisions to the estimates for mid-2022 to account for updated estimates of international migration for England and Wales. This occurred due to a technical error. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Migration estimates for England and Wales added to those for Scotland and Northern Ireland do not sum to UK-level international migration estimates for 2023. For more information see Population estimates for the UK, England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland: mid-2023. Population estimates will be revised when mid-2024 estimates are published.
