Summary

Gross domestic product (GDP) measures the value of goods and services produced in the UK. It estimates the size of and growth in the economy.


We have changed the publication time of this release from 9.30am to 7.00am. This is in response to the developing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the UK and is to ensure fair and equal access to our market sensitive statistics.

    As the demand increases for statistics and data to measure the impact of the COVID19 pandemic, we have had to change data gathering and release practices, focusing efforts on priority analysis and statistics.     Reason for change

    The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak presents a significant challenge to the UK, and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) is working to ensure that the UK has the vital information needed to respond to the impact of this pandemic on our economy and society. As both data collection and quality assurance are likely to present some significant challenges, we have made the decision to make some small delays to some of our publications to ensure that we have adequate time to quality assure our estimates.
